UPDATE - June 30, 2012

The Conference concluded today.  At the peak we had over 90 participants, and over 60 at the closing discussion.  We look forward to sharing the outcomes of the discussion, and will get back to you with a firm way forward.

The Conference kicked off today with a Roundtable discussion on architecture education for the twenty-first century.  Thanks to all those who participated.  More than 80 people were in attendance.

UPDATE - February 28, 2012
The Conference Secretariat would like to announce that the Faculty of the Built Environment, the hosts for the Sustainable Futures Conference, has received formal communication that its professional programme in architecture, comprising the Bachelor of Environmental Design and the Master of Architecture (Professional) degree programmes have been validated by the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA).  The Validation Visit was undertaken in May 2012, but formal notification is only given on the approval of the report by the CAA Council.  This approval represents the first time that a professional programme in architecture in Uganda has received Part II Validation.  We join the Faculty in celebrating this milestone.


UPDATE - February 25, 2012
The Conference Secretariat, in conduction with the Faculty of the Built Environment, and UNHABITAT will be hosting a pre-conference workshop on energy efficient architecture for architects in East Africa.  This will be held June 25 - 27, 2012.  Further details will be circulated soon.

The Abstract review process has been completed.  In all, 65 abstracts were received from 23 countries.  Of those, 55 have been accepted for development into full papers.  We look forward to receiving the completed papers in due course.

UPDATE - January 8, 2012
The Conference Secretariat is pleased to announce the endorsement of the Conference by the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA).  The CAA promotes co-operation for 'the advancement of architecture in the Commonwealth' and particularly to share and increase architectural knowledge.

A number of acceptance notices have been sent out, however we are awaiting for a few reviews to come in.  We hope to get this in and out to the authors shortly.  In the meantime, a list of accepted papers will be uploaded onto the website shortly.
